Der Body-Mass-Index (BMI), auch Körpermasseindex (KMI), Kaup-Index oder Körpermassenzahl (KMZ), dient zur Bewertung des Körpergewichts eines Menschen. Bitte beachten: Der BMI gibt lediglich einen groben Richtwert an, da er die Statur eines Menschen und die individuell verschiedene Zusammensetzung des Körpergewichts aus Fett- und Muskelgewebe naturgemäß nicht berücksichtigt.
